Gum and spittle

Everything that has a chance of being stained is always a random mix of colors and design. Like movie theater carpeting, hotel bedspreads, and these bus seats. This design of illusion makes me wonder how many stains I am actually looking at but cannot see. Such worry is what causes me to immediately whip the bedspread onto the floor upon entering a hotel room. But I cannot throw these seats to the ground. And I cannot be scared of them for fourteen hours. So I must swallow my fear and realize that these bus seats will probably be the cleanest surfaces onto which I place my head during this entire trip. My germaphobia must cease right now. No more fresh dish sponges every day! No more clean towels every three days. No more freshly laundered pillowcases whenever I please. Fuck! I hope I can do this. I am not cut out to be a backpacker.

Oh no! No more clean dish sponges?! You are so “differenter” already! Love you much – Bali is everything you said it would be. :) Hope all is well, we’re thinking of you and we’re proud of you!

Laurenne! Found your blog! I loved seeing the pics from the wedding. This post is particularly funny (and scary) as it rings so close to him. I think we bonded at your apartment about sleeping with socks on so that the pants don’t roll up. tee hee. Hope your travels continue to be safe and wonderful!
